関係が失われるその瞬間
歌詞は、失われてしまった関係について述べられているようにみえる。関係を結んでいた者達には、その関係は永遠に続くように思えた。しかし、それは失われ、未来は不明瞭になり、今日という日に輝きはなくなってしまった。
彼らはお互い、様々な想いや秘密を抱えていたが、それが明らかになることは遂になかった。そして、そんな虚構の上に成り立っていた関係が今、終わりを迎える。
タイトル「Final Masquerade」は、まさにこの終わる瞬間を表現しているのではないかと感じられた。
虚構の上に立つ社会の終焉
しかし、ミュージックビデオでは、裏切りや暴力、また死などのより深刻な内容が表現されており、上記の解釈は間違っているかもしれない。特に、映像の中にたびたび現れる「The end is near（終わりは近い）」、「Beware of shape shifters（形を変える者達に気づけ）」、「Trust no one（誰も信じるな）」、「Run Away（逃げ出せ）」などの言葉から、権力者によって作られた虚構の上に立つ社会の終焉といった、より大きなテーマを歌詞から読み取ることができるかもしれない。
